TEMPORAY EMERGENCY NUMBERS DUE TO PHONE SERVICE ISSUES – KIOWA COUNTY

(EADS, COLORADO) Due to a reported fiber optic cable cut between Lamar and La Junta, certain telephone services have been disrupted, including 911 services for Kiowa County.
During this time, the Kiowa County Division of Emergency Management is asking residents with emergency medical, fire or law enforcement needs to place calls to the following numbers instead of 911:
Customers who have Eastern Slope Rural Telephone service, including residents of Eads and Haswell, should call the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office at 719-438-5411.
Customers who have Fairpoint Communications (also known as Sunflower Telephone) in Sheridan Lake and Towner, can call the parts store in Sheridan Lake at 719-729-3316, and the information will be relayed by radio to the Sheriff’s Office.
At this time, the exact cause of the outage, and estimated duration is unknown. Continue listening to this station for further updates.
